IAR Systems launches enhanced toolkit for Atmel’s AVR family of microcontrollers
IAR Systems today announced the improved support for Atmel’s  AVR family of microcontrollers in the IAR Embedded Workbench, the leading Integrated Development Environment for embedded applications. The new toolkit includes support for the ICE 200 in-circuit emulator and the ATmega64 derivative, in addition to the many AVR derivatives already supported in the IAR Embedded Workbench.

In addition to the previous support for the Atmel AVR, IAR has now extended its commitment to the AVR user community by offering support for the new ATmega64 derivative from Atmel as well as an interface to the ICE 200 in-circuit emulator, which is completely integrated into the IAR Embedded Workbench.

“Until now, using the AVR Studio has provided the only interface to the ICE 200 in-circuit emulator. With this release of the IAR Embedded Workbench for AVR, we are happy to offer a complete tool chain, including the IAR C/Embedded C++ Compiler with support for a large number of AVR derivatives, the IAR C-SPY high-level language debugger with its interface to the ICE 200 emulator, and the IAR MakeApp device driver wizard”, said Mats Ullstrom, the Product Manager of IAR Embedded Workbench.

The new IAR Embedded Workbench for AVR is available through IAR’s worldwide distribution network and its own sales offices.
