Primate Systems releases MonkeyMessenger for Pocket PC, the first PPC SMS client for supporting Infrared and Bluetooth !

Primate Systems Incorporated has expanded the use of Pocket PC and PocketPC 2002 handhelds for wireless connectivity, with the release of their new software, MonkeyMessenger for Pocket PC !

Pocket PC users are now able to send and receive SMS text messages simply by beaming from their handhelds to their mobile phone. Monkey Messenger for Pocket PC is also the first SMS client to support Bluetooth connection between a Bluetooth enabled handheld and a Bluetooth enabled phone.

"With MonkeyMessenger, my Ericsson T39 and a Bluetooth-enabled Jornada, or Ipaq, i can send and receive SMS from my PocketPC without taking my mobile phone out of my pocket. ", says David Kinsella, Director of Marketing and Sales for Primate Systems. "It's an unprecedented level of convenience, comfort, and usability for SMS addicts!".

"We are working closely with Mobile phone vendors, Bluetooth accessories providers -such as AnyCom- and Pocket PC OEMs."

All Pocket PC devices with an infrared port are now capable of operating Monkey Messenger. Primate Systems offers a supported, professional product line for messaging software. "The use of infrared makes this product truly wireless.", Says Kathleen Boehle, operations manager at Primate systems.

Monkey Messenger for Pocket PC is available for download at Primatesys.com for $24.95. An evaluation is also available. Future development include a line of Bluetooth connectivity software for the PocketPC, including Primate Systems's popular MonkeyTone and MonkeyLogo, as well as support for GPRS mobilephones.
